How many sessions will I need?
It is recommended to undergo at least 6 sessions of shockwave therapy in order to see tremendous results but the number of sessions required will depend on each individual’s condition.
How long before I can see the effects of this treatment?
You will be able to see the effect of your pain reducing almost immediately after your ESWT session.
Who is a suitable candidate for shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy is generally safe for most individuals, but it may not be recommended for pregnant women, individuals with blood clotting disorders, open wounds, those who are currently having cancer or any malignant tumors, or infections in the treatment area.
Your physiotherapist will assess your medical history and condition to determine if shockwave therapy is suitable for you.
Are there any side effects from ESWT?
Shockwave therapy is considered a safe treatment with minimal side effects. However, some individuals may experience temporary redness, bruising, swelling, or discomfort in the treated area. These effects are usually mild and will subside quickly. Serious complications are rare but can include skin damage or nerve injury.
Is shockwave therapy painful?
Shockwave therapy can cause mild discomfort during treatment, but it is generally well-tolerated. Your healthcare provider will adjust the intensity of the treatment to your comfort level.
After the session, some patients may experience temporary soreness or tenderness in the treated area, but this typically subsides quickly.

What should I prepare for my ESWT session?
If you have pain over your shoulder or upper back, do wear a loose t-shirt so that our physiotherapists will be able to administer ESWT to the painful area while maintaining your comfort. If you have pain over your hip or knee, do wear loose pants or shorts for the same reason.
